Still in its infancy stages, the Diesel Black Gold label has already proven itself to be a foremost casual-luxury brand. But the official stamp of approval came after this weeks spring launch at New York's Fashion Week. Sister to premium denim brand Diesel, the Black Gold label embraced the runway with a rock and roll flare. The 55 look-collection featured a medley of highly stylized looks influenced by a diverse assortment of historical eras. The punk rebels of the 1970's, the poets of the 19th century, and the militant look of the 60's inspired the title "Layers of Time."
Millinery genius was the featured accessory. Fantastic bobby helmets, equestrian hats, and captain caps led the way to the military inspired outerwear. Cavalry jackets boasted shimmery silver shoulder ornaments in triangular silhouettes. Outfits were furthered accessorized by cummerbunds, feathered vests, and exposed zippers. Cuffed boots made frequent appearances matched up with genie style pants and tuxedo style dresses. Using innovative bleaching and dyeing techniques, the featured denim was almost unrecognizable in its natural form.
The combination of elaborate accessories with basic ensembles gave the overall collection a minimalist meets dramatic theme. This runway remix of past decades proves the brilliance of the Diesel family is alive and well.
