Nothing says punk rock like the flamboyantly wild ensembles worn by Karen O of the indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeah. Her showstopper costumes are a product of the off-the-wall style genius Christian Joy. Karen O has long been the muse of Christian Joy but this past spring Joy has taken her talent from the stage to the streets. Without straying from her raw and zany style, her first collection featured classics like the shift dress and t-shirt dresses modernized by bold prints. But this fall she sticks to many of the punk elements of the early 80's that she is known best for.

Christian Joy's graphic dresses and separates donning abstract details will satisfy anyone's craving for punk livery gone sophisticate. Joy crafts a look of rebelling prom dresses, asymmetric necklines, short poofy space suit-like skirts, and retro frills. Joy has incorporated a variety of colors and textures. Dresses are either two-dimensional in color or a straightforward solid. But it's the versatile blouses that make this fall collection. Embellished with tiny neckties and ruffs the blouses can be worn with most anything. You may need a special occasion for much of the other pieces but even so, all eyes will be on you.

Leaving the confines of a one-stop design shop, Joy's commitment to her fans has been well-received. No longer do they have to scour the streets for fashions to replicate the on-stage persona who has made Christian Joy such a phenomenon. The ready-to-wear line may feature a more polished look but not so much that the true Christian Joy fan will feel neglected. If you're looking to add some drama to your wardrobe this fall than Christian Joy is the way to go.
