Looking at m a t s u designs you will immediately feel a departure from the average run of the mill styles you see each day. The mood of the upcoming fall 2008 collection is an assorted combination of timeless and swank pieces made specifically for the sultry, playful woman. Strongly influenced by the late Yves Saint Laurent's 1970s design style, women will get personality-heavy designs with a hint of subdued glamour.
m a t s u slightly deviates from the upcoming trends we will soon be inundated with as fall sneaks up on us. This of course will come as great delight to the woman who likes to stand out in a crowd all while following the trends. Take the one piece jumper. The chunky gold-plated zipper sets it apart from most other jumpers on display right now. The metallic fabric sticks to the season trend but is updated with strong color tones. Paired with a secretary blouse made popular in the 80's as a legitimate fashion, m a t s u will have you looking right this fall.
m a t s u did not forget about the casual chic. A laidback version of the demure-like pieces makes for a more everyday look. You'll see that chunky zipper featured on cropped leather jackets and skirts. You'll even find those secretary style shirts you can easily pair up with your favorite denim to take you one dimension away from ordinary. Profound textures add to the collections quality. This is all precisely what m a t s u has in mind. This collection looks to "let the m a t s u girl control and experiment with a daring or demure style."
All the credit to this Shanghai based line goes to designer Megan Fischer. Fischer received her formal education at Parsons School of Design and worked in the New York fashion industry for a short time. She relocated to Shanghai and began designing for a select clientele. Her desire to dress a larger audience led to her branching off and creating m a t s u. This fall marks her second design season and one can easily see the magnificent design psyche behind this collection.
