So back when this was made, Common was rolling with the UAC graffiti crew in Chicago. One of my exes had dated Telly, the head of UAC, for a short time, and I was friends with, and made a short film with, one of the early UAC guys Jayson Tobias (check it out here - it's very student-ish).
I never met Common, since by the time I had met the UAC people he had already blown up (mid 90's), but there's some of my Chicago history for you.
