After two summits on the lack of diversity on the runways, supermodel Liya Kebede made her token appearance on Calvin Klein's presentation yesterday. She looked stunning with little makeup and a slicked back ponytail, but it would have been nice for Francisco Costa and crew to give up-and-comer Jourdan Dunn a chance. The flawless model did track mileage for Proneza Schouler, Oscar de la Renta, and Tommy Hilfiger this week.
Oh, well. I'm just glad Liya fit into the designer's "vision" this season...
Now on to the clothes. Unlike the ninety percent of designers who showed this week, there weren't any bold colors in this collection - navy, gray and black ruled. As a matter of fact, it was pretty much
all black.
Overall, the clothes were sleek, refined, and very beautiful as usual with the house who has perfected their minimalist aesthetic over the years.
For designer who courts celebrities so much, there were only three full-length evening gowns in the show. Which means if you aren't one of Rachel Zoe's clients consider yourself screwed. (Rumor has it that she gets first pull.)
