For a great cut and color at a very reasonable price, check out Ric Erickson Studio in Tucson, Arizona. I discovered this salon while visiting family in Tucson. I was at Starbucks getting a drink. The girl behind the counter had beautiful highlights in her hair. I asked her where she got it done and she suggested I try Ric Erickson Studio on Grant Rd. and Swan. I gave it a shot the next day and was very impressed with the service, not to mention the cut and color is georgous.
The vibe of the salon is hip, edgy, and a laid back atmosphere. The staff was friendly with each other and their clients. My stylist Sabra, was very thoughtful and listened to what I wanted. She started by highlighting my hair and then applied the base color since I already had grown out highlights in my hair. Because I have natural curls, she gave me slightly thicker highlights. Pin thin highlights get lost is waves and curls. She then went ahead and cut long layers to get rid of my fried ends.
Sabra used AG Hair Bigwigg Root Volumizer on my roots and Scruples Enforce Sculpting Glaze through my hair. She finished my volumizing blowdry with Scruples Smoothing Polish. I got to see the results of my new hair. It turned out awesome! My hair is a natural light brown with caramel and honey highlights. To prolong the tone of my hair and kill the brassiness Sabra suggested using Artec White Violet Color Shampoo.I am truely happy with the results. She spent four and a half hours to achieve a perfect look for my olive tanned skintone.
When I got up to pay at the counter I truly thought it was going to cost me $300 for all the time and effort she put into my hair and was totally shocked when it was less than half of that. Ric Erickson is trully a gem in Tucson, Arizona.

Ivy, I had a similar experience. Saw a girl working at Dillards with great hair and she referred me to Sarah. That was in 2005 and I now live back in Florida. I plan to have an appt. at Ric Erickson (with Sarah hopefully) for color and cut on my next trip to Tucson, which will hopefully be soon!
Sarah is an awesome stylist but now works over at Studio One 33 at Campbell and Fort Lowell near Pastiche.

I too get my hair done at Ric Erickson Studio. It is such a fun, hip place to escape to! EVERYONE is nice, they all get along and go out of their way to make a client comfy!
I go to Ric Erickson to get my hair done and if he is booked up when I call for an appt., I completley trust the other stylist. Many of them assisted for him and the others have an extensive back ground in their career. They help me with product and impressively...Ric is coming out with his own product line! They are great!!!!

That hockey-loving, Heeb, Jason, cuts a perfect head of hair. He is worth the 180 miles round trip! AND, If I didn't live so far away, I would be in there right now spending $60+ on Bumble and Bumble products in Jason's name.

I came to Tuscon to visit my sister. She gets her hair done by MEREDITH. I decided that it was time to donate my long hair and get a shorter cut for a change. I loved the cut Meredith did. I am so happy with it. She is so knowledgable and catered her cut according to my needs and hair. I plan on going back next time I visit. I highly recommend her- she's awesome!
I love, love, love the way Meredith does my hair. It's thick and very straight and it's hard to find someone willing to take the extra time to give me a very well-shaped short cut, but Meredith doesn't even seem to notice that it's extra work. Everyone in there is fun and there are always good conversations going on. I'm also really particular about my color and used to go to one stylist for the cut and one for the color, but everyone who works there seems to be good at everything, and you can rely on them to listen to what you want, give you their ideas, and end up with a gorgeous head of hair. And don't forget the astheticians Grace and Tanya for perfectly shaped eyebrows and beautiful skin.
Merideth and the rest of that gang rocks BUT they all up and quit because of fairly obvious personality issues with Mr. Ric Erickson. The new salon is at River and Campbell (NW) between P.F. Changs and Sullivan's. The entire staff at S7S are ex-employees of the RE Studio. The few good people left were subsequently fired. I'm just the Husband of one of the stylists so my opinion is swayed but it really is a beautiful place with the coolest family of professionals.
Ric Erickson is not only the most talented Hair Designer...he is a man with a heart of GOLD! He cares about his staff and clients! He is Honest and Hard Working and I admire that when it comes to the people I associate with. He has been in this industry for over 20 years!! He is so talented with hair and is ALWAYS gaining new education and knowledge for himself and his staff so that they can do better hair and hopefully be better people! His salon has had many changes lately and it has made his salon even better than before! Lots of new stuff going on at Ric Erickson Studio...so check it out for yourself...it is located at Grant & Swan in the Crossroads Plaza next to Starbucks.
how much would a haircut and high lights cost for longish hair?
got my hair cut by Ric and didn't see any problems. Definitely still there, definitely happy with the cut. Good highlights too! (and I am NOT related to anyone who works there)
