Starting today, California's hands-free law is in effect, meaning it is now illegal to use a cell phone in a car unless you're wearing a hands free headset. Even you don't reside in the Golden State (or in the US for that matter) a hands free set is a great accessory for your phone.
My thinking is that if you're gonna be wearing a headset, you might as well wear a good one. After all, most of us would like to avoid looking like a cyborg. Here's what I think are the Top 5 headsets out there.
1 // The New Jawbone
The last revision was sexy enough to garner a mention on Grooveeffect, and the new one manages to make a number of improvements on the design, most notable being the leather ear strap...a first for headsets as far as I know of. It leans a little feminine, but the black and silver models are pretty unisex. Appx. $120 USD.
2 // LG Prada Bluetooth Headset
A little more techie looking than the Jawbone, but still pretty slick and stylized. And you can label-whore it out to people who are impressed by that type of thing. Very small and compact, it'd make for another great bluetooth option. Appx. $100 USD.
3 // BlueAnt Z9
Very minimally designed save for the cool blue LED, this one is pretty smooth looking and should work well with most outfits and is very tiny and inconspicuous when worn (see image). Up close you can see the blue LED is actually a little ant, which might be a little cheesy to some, but you'd have to be very close to notice. Appx. $75 USD.
4 // Bluetrek Sense
This one is very clean and minimal, with little more than a slight depression in the rear and barely noticeable logo up front. It's a little long compared to the rest of the headsets on this list, but since the other four are so tiny this would still measure up quite small next to your average headset. Appx. $50 USD.
5 // Motopure H12
This is a very clean design that almost feels a little more formal than the others, and it's little charging base station is a great touch. If silver isn't your thing and you happen to have a load of cash to blow, there's are 100 limited edition 18kt gold versions with 3 1/2 carats of diamonds inlaid within (see image) for only $12,000 USD. For the rest of us, the silver version will have to do. Appx. $60 USD.
