We posted about Honeyshed way back when it was fresh in beta. Now just a little over a year later they're in full release, and it'll be interesting to see how they're received.
The basic idea is QVC for a younger generation. As you may (or may not) know, QVC and other home shopping channels are some of the most popular channels in the USA. Make what you will of that.
Honeyshed, created by creative shop Droga5, is looking to take that basic concept, sex it up a bit, deliver via the web, and target young adults. Instead of medieval inspired battle knife collections and garish jewelery, now you can check out sneakers, digital cameras, and other such things.
Besides lowering costs, one advantage of the web is that even if you only watch without buying, there's still some promotional value for the brands that choose to participate. But for all that to work out, they need viewers. Probably a lot of them.
So will it succeed? That's up to you. Give it a peek and see if you're destined to become a digital shopping addict.
The website is currently under construction still, Sean. But thanks for the heads up on this one. They seemed to be very promising in terms of content as seen from the slides.
The idea sounds great. I'm surprised that it's mail-order versus web based. They should have a shopping cart installed on the site. Still, a great store idea.
@ Jonathan Kong:
Actually they seem to have folded already...that was quick! Looks like the concept never panned out I guess (I'm sure the economic situation hasn't helped either).
@Sean
That's unfortunate. But yeah, the execution looked ambitious with so much effort to put up that amount of video shows on the site.
Then again, with little advertising takeups (which i assumed the video shows are somewhat part source of the avenue), it's incerdibky hard to takeoff with the current financial climate.
