In today's style conscious world it seems as if you're coolness depends on how well you capture the essence of a past era. From the wide leg jeans gracing the pages of Elle, to young women's obsession with leggings. It's not possible to be in style without embracing the past. It only makes sense to sit down with the Retro Kidz to talk about their personal style, which happens to stem from the modern day 80's fashion craze.
What kind of statement are you making to the world with your amazing retro wardrobe?
It's a very positive statement that we hope says to people, 'Dress the way you want. Express yourself.'
Name a few pieces in your closet and tell us why they're special.
To look this good, you absolutely must have acid wash jeans, Nike Force sneakers, and the signature rope chain. These pieces are staples in our retro lifestyle.
If for some reason you were barred from wearing anything made before 2005, what labels and styles would you wear?
Oh, man! That would be rough. Some labels that are pretty dope are: BBP, Rockport, and Mishka.
Give us an example of how music and fashion go hand in hand.
People hear the music and watch the fashion in videos, and they'll see a look and go out and try to recreate it. Everyone needs role models, and who knows, maybe we'll be that for some people.
Who are some of your favorite designers of today and yesteryear?
Sergio Tacchini, Lee Jeans, Benetton, Triple Fat Goose.
You guys are well known for your style - are there ever days when you just want go out in a white tee and a pair of jeans?
Every now and again we do just wear a nice clean white tee -- but don't tell anybody! Haha.
Are there any celebrities in music or otherwise that you look up to for their own fashion sense?
Oh, we love Kanye West's & Black Eyed Peas' style. It's very vintage with a contemporary twist.
