This year More than 50 young people from the Ella Baker Center's Silence the Violence campaign, Art in Action, and Covenant Records came together for the 2nd Annual "Turf Unity Music Production Training" November 30 - December 2, 2007, hosted by the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights in Oakland. The program is designed to help poor and underprivileged children learn how to record music, write music, design covers, and Market their work.
For the second year in a row the Turf Unity Music Project has compiled a rap CD featuring artists from the Bay Area called Turf Unity 2008. The CD has garnered awareness from celebs such as Atlantic Records Recording Artist Mistah FAB and Legendary DJ and Bay Area Hip Hop Icon DJ Fuze. People from all over the bay area are beginning to pay attention to these kids important message of stopping the violence.
